Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to what educators and schools ask us most. If yours is not here, talk to the team.

For educators

Registering, checks, pay and choosing your work.

How do I register?

Fill in the registration form and upload your CV. It takes about four minutes. A consultant calls you within one working day to talk through the work you are looking for.

Register as an educator

Does it cost anything to register?

No. Registering with us and being put forward for roles is free for educators.

What checks will I need?

Identity and right to work checks, a full employment history, references, an enhanced DBS check, and checks of your qualifications and QTS where relevant, with overseas checks where they apply. We tell you exactly what we need and help you gather it.

How we carry out each check

How soon could I start work?

As soon as your checks are complete. We take you through identity, right to work, references, an enhanced DBS and your qualifications. If your DBS certificate is on the update service, that step can move faster.

Do I need qualified teacher status?

For teaching roles, schools usually ask for QTS, QTLS or an overseas qualification recognised in England. Without one, cover supervisor and support roles may suit you, and we can talk through the options.

Will I know the pay before I accept?

Yes. The rate is shown on our adverts and confirmed with you in writing before you start.

Can I choose the days and schools I work in?

Yes. Tell us the days you are free, the age groups you teach and how far you will travel, and we only offer work that fits. You can turn down any booking.

For schools

Booking cover, checks, charges and permanent appointments.

How quickly can you provide cover?

Call the cover line from 6:30am. We tell you straight away whether we can fill it, so you can plan the day. For cover booked ahead, send a staffing request and a consultant will call you back the same working day.

What checks do your staff go through?

Identity and right to work checks, a full employment history, references, an enhanced DBS check, and checks of qualifications and QTS where relevant, with overseas checks where they apply. These are complete before anyone is put forward.

Will we receive confirmation of the checks?

Yes. You receive written confirmation of the checks we have carried out for each person we supply, for your single central record.

How are your charges agreed?

Charge rates are agreed with you and confirmed in writing before a booking starts. The rate you are quoted is the rate you pay.

Can we book the same person again?

Yes. Tell us who worked well and we will offer them your bookings first, subject to their availability.

What if the person is not right for our school?

Tell your consultant the same day. We will talk it through with you and, wherever we can, arrange someone better suited.

Can we take on someone permanently?

Yes. The terms for taking on someone we have placed are agreed with you in writing before the first booking.
